When I was a little girl I would sit, play and look over to my mom that was measuring and cutting fabric and happy. I remember some of the beautiful patterns that were woven into the fabric. She made her curtains, pillows, throws and aprons to match. She always had our home adorned with beautiful things. She used the colors yellow, blue and green in our home. As I reflect and see our home now I use the same colors!
She loved antique stores, yard sales, L.A. Flower Mart, and Stats. You would think that she spend a lot of money but she didn't. She was sewing because it was cost effective for her. I love that my mom, my mentor and teacher filled our home with love and beauty.
I know material things are not love. What I am saying is because of her love while sewing the pillows, curtains, throws etc. we could feel her love as she decorated, painted a piece of furniture, or picked fresh flowers from our garden! The home was a large part of her and she cared for it like it was her. She showed me be happy in all things, to use my hands to create, how to utilize things in different ways and being content in what we had! For me decorating is pouring out my love and making our house a home. Creating memories for my family and guests as they do life. I want them to feel the love that is poured out from me!
It's not how big the house is...it's how happy the home is. Author Unknown
